As Adjunct Instructor of Percussion at William Jewell College, Stephen Martin directs the Cardinal Drumline, and teaches applied lessons in percussion. Dr. Martin has been involved in music education since 1994. He earned the degree of Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University, and the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He was the Assistant Band Director at Heritage High School in Saginaw, Michigan in 1999-2000, where he also did his student teaching. His responsibilities at Heritage included teaching the Concert Band, and guitar class, as well as assisting the Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, and instructing the marching percussion section. During that time, Dr. Martin also taught music at the Benito Jaurez Academy in Saginaw, Michigan.

He has taught and performed at the Alma College Percussion Workshop from 2003 to 2012. He has given music clinics at the University of Western Ontario, as well as public schools in Charlevoix, Michigan, and Long Island, New York. Dr. Martin was Adjunct Professor of Music at Huston-Tillotson University and Part-time Assistant Professor of Music at Southwestern University, where his duties included teaching applied percussion lessons and percussion methods, as well as directing the percussion ensemble. He oversaw the creation of, and directed the Southwestern University Steel Pan Ensemble. Dr. Martin taught beginning percussion at West Ridge Middle School in Austin, TX, and has been teaching privately since 1994.
