Educator


Stephen Martin has been involved in music education since 1994. He earned the degree of Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University, and the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He was the Assistant Band Director at Heritage High School in Saginaw, Michigan in 1999-2000, where he also did his student teaching. His responsibilities at Heritage included teaching the Concert Band, and guitar class, as well as assisting the Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, and instructing the marching percussion section. During that time, Mr. Martin also taught music at the Benito Jaurez Academy in Saginaw, Michigan.

He has taught and performed at the Hohner Institute of Percussion, Summer Workshop since 2003. He has given music clinics at the University of Western Ontario, as well as public schools in Charlevoix, Michigan, and Long Island, New York. Mr. Martin is currently Instructor of Percussion at Southwestern University, Huston-Tillotson University, and West Ridge Middle School. He also teaches private lessons at Bailey Middle School.
